Well here is our official Monday blog post!

As some of you know, we got a chance last night to open for Styx at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga. The easiest and best way to explain the night, is that it was really one giant blessing. We’re a small indie band, and to get the chance to open for a larger act, and play a beautiful and amazing venue is an honor.

The show was, in a lot of ways, a really cool internal experience for myself. The night made me think a lot about bands, and people who choose to make music their career. Styx was the perfect example of a band who has been doing it for a long time, and staying good at what they do. They may not be the most relevant band right now, and they may not be pumping out new, hot music, but what really blew me away was the fact that they have kept all these fans since the late 70’s! And on top of that, they were hands down, flawless during their live set.

Success is measured so differently in this age. Thanks to DIY ethics, and the internet, you can be successful just by getting lots of hits on Youtube videos. Some people are even able to tour the world without the help of management or a label, because they handle all aspects of their music themselves. Seeing yet again, just another facet of success last night, really made me appreciate the fans, and the experiences that Picture Atlantic has. We may not be rocking small ampitheaters every night, but we have been incredibly lucky to play some great shows, connect with people through our music, and make a heap of friends in the process. Thank you everyone. You bless us more than you know.
