Obligatory fangirl post because Picture FREAKINGGG Atlantic just followed me back. If you haven’t heard of them/their music…then I don’t think we can be friends anymore. JOKES. However if that is the case, you should do some research on them immediately, and fall in love with them. Trust me, you’ll be glad you did :)

Tinariwen | Microcultures

One of my favorite bands, Tinariwen is doing a crowd-funded project to help bring their newest album to life, not to mention a world tour.

Tinariwen are a group of Tamashek desert nomads from the Sahara (we call them the Tuareg people here in the west), and they are a fantastic group of musicians. Take some time to listen to their music on Spotify. Their album ‘Tassili’ is awesome.

If you like what you hear, consider putting some money down on their project! I imagine they could use all the help we can offer, and I’m sure it will go a long way to continuing the existence and legacy of this great band.

Picture Atlantic Song Meanings - Beehive

Listen - Beehive by Picture Atlantic

If you really wanted to, you could just break my heart
Feel the pieces crack and crumble
Feel the pieces crack and crumble
If you really wanted to, you could just snap my neck
Feel the pieces crack and crumble
Feel the pieces crack and crumble

As bees search for flowers
I search for you
No excuse, no excuse
As bees search for flowers
I search for you
No more, no more

If I really wanted to I could just call this off
But I’m addicted to the drama
I’m addicted to the drama
If I really wanted to I could just call this quits
But I’m addicted to the drama
I’m addicted to the drama

As bees search for flowers
I search for you
No excuse, no excuse
As bees search for flowers
I search for you
No more

It calls me out
Bury me at sea
Dressed in white
Buried to your knees
This white squall
Buries me at sea
Dressed in white
Dressed in white

If I really wanted to I could just call this off
But I’m addicted to the drama

"It’s really a simple song all around. The idea is that people get involved in relationships, or situations even, where they probably shouldn’t be. It might just be straight up unhealthy, or even overly complex. But somehow you get hooked into it, in this really strange swan song sort of way. The chorus is kind of me explaining this mindless bee-drone like mentality where you keep going back to someone even though you know they might just be terrible for you. Bees actually die most times because their wings wear out from the constant flying they do to find flowers. It’s an approximation, but I think it’s fitting." -Nik
